I've finally decided to part ways with this big, amazing bass. I just bought another carved bass and I can't justify having it lying around. Also, it's too big for me. The sound, however, is also huge. It is even, easy to play and sounds great pizz and arco.

    How big?

The string length is 41.5" having been modified from the original 43.5" with a false nut. The upper bout width is 20.75. Lower bout is 27". The bass is 9" deep.

It was serviced most recently by Jeff Bollbach in Long Island. He installed the false nut, dressed the fingerboard, installed a nice German endpin, and reshaped the bridge.

The bass is attributed to Karel Vysoky. I found the following description of him on the Quantum Bass Center website:
Karel Vysoky was one of many makers who produced instruments in Europe to be imported by Rudolph Wurlitzer and Co. Perhaps best known in these times for their USA-made theatre organs and jukebokes, the Wurtlitzer family began making instruments in the 17th century, and made a major impact on musical life in America in the mid-19th-century, bringing better instruments at their price point to the US market as a result of importing directly from makers rather than through multiple middlemen.

I'm located in Philly. PM me with any questions.

Here are videos of pizz and arco.

    Thanks for looking! IMG_6962.jpg IMG_6958.jpg IMG_6961.jpg IMG_6964.jpg

Hey there. I'm trying to modify the listing with more detailed measurements. You're not the only one who asked. Stay tuned. Thanks for your reply.
