    Hi all,

I was recently given a rather old unused set of Flexocor strings. I believe these are Chromesteel strings, but don't know much more about them.

Can someone tell me what these would compare to in the present-day Pirastro lineup? Or any other comparison to current strings?

Thanks in advance for any info!

  2. Assuming those are the really old ones that have a silver wrap over the silks on the pegbox end, there isn’t anything out there now that’s quite like them. I hoard them.

If I understand what you have, the top end will be very bright, and as you go down each string has a different tone color, until you get to an E string whose fundamental is so deep that a lot of basses can’t produce it, so people think it’s weak.

    I'll check the pegbox endings...

    Thanks!

  4. Their most approaching string would be the Original Flexocors methinks.
Is the tailpiece silk purple or burgundy?

The wraps are purple and purple with a silver filament on the pegbox. KFS, is that what you meant by a silver wrap? I've attached pics: All the original packaging is intact, including a tissue wrapping for each string!
